Finding Strength in Life’s Challenges

The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.” Tony Robinson. In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”Abraham Lincoln

Life’s journey is unique for everyone, and for me, it has been especially challenging. However, through these trials, I have learned to toughen up as life becomes tougher, using every product of its journey along the way. My aim is to become tougher than the tough life, brighter than the light, and smarter than the smartest in life—a combination I call wisdom. “A fool becomes tough and hard on self when the weight of the world is on him, but a wise person uses strategic thinking to deal with life and come out successfully.

My life is the true definition of missed opportunities due to a lack of education in various areas like relocation, civics, sociology, and psychology. Suffice it to say, I learned the hard way. At times, I was a mess, but the grace of God enabled me to start reassessing my relationships, my fellowship, my priorities, and my life goals. As the saying goes, “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.”

It became obvious that I never had a life plan or clear goals. I was only doing what seemed right according to those who influenced my life. I went to school because they said it was the right thing to do, pursued a career because they said it was the right thing to do. I became a Christian because they said without it, there is no life. Shamefully, I got into relationships because everyone else was doing it and got married because it was the right thing to do. I inadvertently ventured into professions and job markets I should not have delved into if I were the true author of my destiny. As they say, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.”

One decision I do not regret is becoming a Christian and loving God and humanity in an extraordinary way. The desire, commitment, and daily seeking of this highest power enabled me to understand who I am, my purpose in life, and how I could take hold of what belongs to me—my destiny, my power, and my voice. I made a deliberate and intentional commitment to reinvent my journey and repossess my possessions.

When I evolved, I became unequivocally the lioness in spiritual matters, a lamb in the midst of wolves. I became my own strength, critic, and adjudicator as I continually refreshed my mind by reading, engaging in the therapeutic art of spiritual writing, and finding joy in laughter. “Laughter is the best medicine,” and I muse myself by creating reels and watching other creators’ reels. As the proverb says, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”

What could you do differently?
