Emotional Rebirth: The Journey of Being Born Again

“Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.’”John 3:3

To be born again is not merely a theological concept. It is a spiritual rebirth that touches every fiber of our being. It is that moment when emotion meets revelation. When faith becomes flesh, and when prayer becomes the breath of a new life.

This journey is not sterile or scripted. It is messy, holy, and deeply personal. It is the convergence of tears and truth, surrender and service, silence and song.

💧 Emotion: The Gateway to Transformation

Emotion is often dismissed in spiritual spaces as weakness or distraction. But in the birthing room of the Spirit, emotion is the first cry of new life.

I remember my own moment vividly. It was the final week of the Life in the Spirit Seminar, held at the Marine Shrine. A sacred place where heaven seemed to hover just above the trees. We had journeyed through eight weeks of spiritual formation. Discovering God’s love, understanding rebirth, receiving the Holy Spirit, and learning to pray with intention.

Week Seven was deliverance. Chains broke. Some resisted and were lovingly redirected to start again.
Week Eight was the laying on of hands. We fasted and prayed in an open field. One by one, leaders came to us, releasing gifts of service and spiritual empowerment.

When they reached me, I didn’t speak in tongues. I didn’t prophesy. I cried.

Tears poured like rivers. I sobbed like a child. And through the weeping, I whispered:
“Bye-bye to the world. Bye-bye to my worldly friends. Welcome to my new world of godly leadership and guidance.”

That was my rebirth.
Emotion wasn’t a side effect—it was the evidence.
It was the Spirit’s fingerprint on my soul.

Even now, I cry when I pray. Not out of sorrow, but out of certainty. I know my prayers reach God. I feel them touch heaven.

🙏 Faith: The Substance of the Unseen

Faith is not just belief—it is the bridge between the old and the new. It is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

To be born again is to walk by faith, not by sight. It is to trust that the tears are seeds. The surrender is strength, and the unseen is more real than the visible.

Faith is what carries us through the silence after the emotion. It is what anchors us when the manifestations fade. It is what keeps us praying, serving, and believing—even when the world tries to pull us back.

🛐 Prayer: The Breath of the New Life

Prayer is not just communication—it is communion. It is the oxygen of the born-again life.

In the seminar, we were taught to pray with intention. To listen. To wait. To speak with authority. Prayer became our rhythm, our refuge, our response.

And now, prayer is my daily cry.
It is where I weep.
It is where I war.
It is where I worship.

Prayer is not just a tool—it is a home.
It is where the born-again live and breathe.

🧺 Service: The Fruit of Rebirth

Being born again is not just about personal transformation—it is about public witness. It is about serving others with the gifts we’ve received.

In that open field, as hands were laid and gifts were released, I didn’t get a title—I received a calling. A call to godly leadership. A call to guide others through their own rebirth. A call to steward the Spirit’s work with integrity and joy.

Service is the fruit of rebirth.
It is the evidence that the new life is real.
It is the way we say “thank you” to the God who made us new.

🌱 The Invitation

If you’ve never been born again, the invitation is open.
If you’ve been born again but feel distant, the Spirit is near.
If you’re walking in newness but need renewal, the breath of God is ready to fill you again.

Let emotion lead you.
Let faith carry you.
Let prayer sustain you.
Let service define you.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”2 Corinthians 5:17
